Let's Talk About Week 3

I will admit that I've been a little more than confused about what's going on with the dances for week 3. Mostly because life got a little crazy and I haven't been able to pay as much attention to DWTS news as usual.

HOWEVER...I think I've got it all figured out now.

From Wetpaint (full article HERE)
The theme of the week is "Iconic Dances Week," and the way Louis explained it is that the couples had to choose a performance from the last 14 seasons that received three 10s or has "sentimental value" or is in some way, well iconic and put their own spin on it. Cheryl said that they couldn't pick freestyles (which makes sense). As Len explained on Tuesday night's show, the stars have to play "creative director" and play an active role in putting the performance together.

From the article:
Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke, Paso Doble
Cheryl said they were not allowed to pick Freestyle dances as their iconic routines. "We have something in store that I think Emmitt really likes and so hopefully we come out and shine next week,” she said. They picked a Paso Doble. "It's a song that he loves and we're going to just try and..." Emmitt breaks in to do a strong matador stomp. "There you go!"

Ok, now that we've gotten the concept straightened out, PureDWTS reported that Emmitt and Cheryl will be recreating Mario and Karina's Paso Doble from Season 3 (Mario originally performed this dance in week 4, then chose to perform it again for the finale).

And as if all of this weren't enough...there's a double elimination to worry about as well.

At any rate...

Here's the video from the finale performance:

Judging from Emmitt's tweets and photos, it's pretty obvious that he's putting a football spin on the dance (which initially had me completely believing that he was going to do Jason Taylor's Paso Doble to the Monday Night Football Theme, but I digress...)

I love that they have so much fun! I can't wait to see this Paso...getting ready to VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!
