Mirror Ball Maddness

We're playing a Twitter game on Tuesday!

It's called Mirror Ball Maddness, and hopefully it'll be as fun as I think it will be.

The rules are simple. There's a list of 5 things that could happen during the Results show. If you catch any of them happen, just Tweet the Keyword and use the hashtag #DWTSMBM

If anyone says our keyword, go extra nuts with your tweets!

See? Simple and fun (hopefully) to take off some of the edge of elimination night :)

Here's a photo with the rules and this week's list! (Click to enlarge)

So, if Emmitt and Cheryl are cheering in the confessional and you catch it, just tweet: DISCO #DWTSMBM

I'm going to keep an eye on the #DWTSMBM tweets and try to RT and interact with people!

If this works out and people like to play, we'll come up with a new list and a new keyword for next week's show.

Have fun!

Elimination Show Screen Shots

Deuces!!

"I'm hot...I gotta try to cool off. They raised the bar so high, I got to work!"

Cheryl: "Life goes on, right?"
Emmitt: "It does, but it'd be damn sad if it goes on without us tomorrow!"

Odds favor Emmitt Smith, Apolo Ohno, Gilles Marini after first night of ‘DWTS’

After their bangin' Cha Cha Cha Monday night, Emmitt and Cheryl's odds to take home the MBT increased as reported by the Las Vegas Sun.

The article lists the odds as follows...for entertainment purposes, of course:

Emmitt and Cheryl, 4 to 1
Apolo and Karina, 5 to 1
Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd, 6 to 1
Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough, 7 to 1
Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, 8 to 1
Sabrina Ryan and Louis Van Amstel, 10 to 1
Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, 14 to 1
Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower, 15 to 1
Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya, 20 to 1
Kelly and Val Chmerkovskiy, 25 to 1
Joey and Kym Johnson, 35 to 1
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas, 45 to 1
Pamela and Tristan MacManus, 150 to 1

*Note that this was published Tuesday morning prior to the results.

Access Hollywood Post Premiere Interview

Emmitt Quotes from Week 1 Elimination Night

On why he joined the All Star cast:

"I didn't want to be the former champion that said no"

"This is their first All Star cast. I wanted to be a part of the very first one."

"Dancing with Cheryl again makes it a little bit easier, but also more challenging...people have this expectation of us now. The question is, can we meet it?"

On the All Star premiere:

"Last night was a great opening night for all of us. This room, right here, was electric. The bar and the standards were very high. Having this atmosphere itself makes dancing that much more fun and that's what we tried to do last night; have fun."

In the confessional, after dancing:

Cheryl: "At least we know we did the best we could."

Emmitt: "Hey, at the end of the day, that's all we can ever ask of us."

Cheryl: "Life goes on, right?"

Emmitt: "It does, but it'd be damn sad if it goes on without us tomorrow!"

EW's Hidden Gems

I don't know if you're familiar with Entertainment Weekly's Hidden Gems or not, but I find them mostly hilarious. If you've never heard of it before, viewers watch the performance shows and submit their funny observations about the show (when stars/pros make funny faces, special audience sightings, odd happenings in the background, etc)

Emmitt made it into the post this week for the funny look on his face during Apolo's interview with Brooke:

“Emmitt giving Apolo the death stare in the celebriquarium when he was getting his scores.” –Liz, endorsed by gigi

Hahahaha...stare him down, Emmitt! If that's what it takes, do your thing!

Season 15: Week 1: Cha Cha Cha

Emmitt and Cheryl danced last and in the words of Len "The last dance of the evening, and the best."

Carrie Ann officially welcomed Twinkle Toes back into the ballroom saying that Emmitt was born to dance. Topping the leader board with 24.5, we're headed into elimination night hoping to move on to Week 2 and the Quickstep!

WFAA Daybreak

Emmitt and Cheryl talk about new challenges, the pressure, and taking it one step at a time on WFAA Daybreak:

Apolo and Karina Size Up the Competition

Apolo and Karina talked to TV Guide about their fellow All Star cast mates.
Here's their thoughts on Emmitt:

Emmitt Smith and Cheryl BurkeSmith and Burke won Season 3.
Smirnoff says: Emmitt is gonna be in this competition until the very end. He's got the biggest fan base that you can possibly think of. ... Everyone loves him and he did amazing when he won. All 12 are couples to beat, but they are definitely one of the top ones.

To see what they have to say about Joey, Gilles, Kirstie and everyone else, head on over to TVGuide.com and read it HERE

USA Today Breaks Down the All Stars

USA Today posted a run down of all of the competitors.
Here's what they had to say about Emmitt:

Emmitt Smith (with Cheryl Burke)
Previous outing: The three-time Super Bowl champ, 43, won Season 3.
Back with Burke: "Cheryl and I have a very good chemistry. I was thrilled to get her back. I don't know how I beat out (Burke's former partners) Gilles and Drew."
What hurts?"Hurting is overstated. Sore is the message I want to convey here. My feet, my hips. It's a different kind of hurt."
The disco-ball trophy: "It's in my game room, a prime location. We had a charity event at the house, and I brought the trophy down. It was like a brand-new baby. People wanted to take pictures with it."
Age factor: "Six years ago, I was 37 and two years out of football. Now, at 43, and not performing on consistent basis, age is a factor. But I looked at the dances I did. I still think I can do some of those things.
First dance: Cha cha
Biggest competition: "Gilles is a superb dancer. His skill set is as good as the pros. (But) then there's every last one. It's going to be tough. But you know what? So was football."

Photos from Emmitt

Just wanted to post some photos that Emmitt shared via Twitter.
Do you think the hats are a hint about their first dance (because it looks like they're in the studio to me)? Or are they just posing for the camera? Either way, they're looking good!

...and because I love it when E and C tweet back and forth to each other, here is Cheryl's RT of Emmitt's photo:

Emmitt and Cheryl Do Press in NYC...Lots and Lots of Press

Emmitt and Cheryl made the media rounds in NYC today and just in case you missed any of it here's some links and video:

Emmitt called in to Mike & Mike on ESPN radio. They talked mostly about the Dallas Cowboys and unfortunately the clip can't be embedded to the blog (but the clip doesn't include any dancing talk anyway...)
Here's the link to the clip if you want to hear what Emmitt had to say about Dallas' win.

Emmitt and Cheryl headed over to Good Morning America and talked spandex, the competition and where Emmitt keeps his Mirror Ball Trophy.

The Dynamic Duo headed over the View to chat about why Emmitt signed on again, expectations for the season and the level of difficulty.

I taped "The Chew," but the guest today was John Henson, the co-host of "Wipeout," who is definitely neither Emmitt nor Cheryl. So we'll have to keep an eye out for a later air date (as well as Access Hollywood and Extra...both were mentioned in Tweets, but no sign of them yet!).

Cheryl did tweet this fabulous photo of her and Emmitt on the set:

She also mentioned that she was stopping by US Weekly...so there's something else to look out for!
